Adding a Librarian to Brightspace

If your students will be doing library research, you can add a librarian to your Brightspace class. Librarians in Brightspace classes do not view grades or student work. They are available to students as a resource. In consultation with you, they can send Announcements to the class or create guides and tutorials in Brightspace. 

If you haven't yet communicated with one of the librarians, do that first, to set expectations for what role they will play and what your students will need. Once you have been in touch with the librarian, here are the steps to add them to a Brightspace class.

Under the More menu, choose Course Tools, then Course Admin.

On the Course Administration screen, select Classlist.

On the Classlist screen, select Add Participants.

Search for the person you want to add. In the drop-down menu, select Librarian as their role. Then click on Enroll Selected Users.
